Social Studies Elective

This week we began our unit on current events by looking at the parts of news stories. In small groups students were given a newspaper and a list of things to find, including things like: headline, byline, table of contents. caption, etc. We spent the week exploring the papers, rotating through a variety of sources attempting to find all the items on the scavenger hunt list. At the end we reviewed our finds, and turned in the worksheet.

Welcome to social studies elective! This week will be our welcome week, and we will participate in some ice breakers, getting to know you activities, and we'll be going over the class expectations and procedures. All students will need a composition notebook for this class, and students need to bring it to class by Friday so we can set up the ISN for class. This blog will be useful to students, provide links to important information about class, as well as links and helpful additional information to augment what we learn in class.
